5.28  ArcLight System Racks 

 

5.28.1 Rack Dimensions 

The ArcLight Hub equipment resides in a standard 19 in. rack, with a 
height of 44RU and a depth of 41 in., as shown in Figure 5-80. Two 

racks are required to house all Hub equipment.  

5.28.2 Mounting 

Holes are located in the bottom of the rack to allow securing it to the 
facility floor to reduce movement in the event of seismic activity. ViaSat 

recommends using threaded rods and Uni-struts to secure the rack to 
the tile floor. The racks must be secured to a concrete sub-floor.  

5.28.3 Cooling 

The ArcLight Hub racks are designed to operate between 15 degrees C 

and 35 degrees C, and to maintain less than 15 degrees C temperature 
rise inside a rack. An average of approximately 15000 Btu/hr of heat 
dissipation is expected from the ArcLight Hub.  An estimate of 1500 

CFM of airflow is required for cooling the rack.
