5.14 Leader 

VMBR 

5.14.1 Overview 

The ArcLight Hub Leader VMBR and its’ associated RF equipment is 
used for closed-loop uplink power control in ArcLight deployments that 

require such functionality. The Leader VMBR is installed at the Hub 
site.  

Figure 5-40 shows the front panel of the Leader VMBR.

5.14.2 Physical Interfaces 

Refer to the ArcLight Hub Installation Guide for the Leader VMBR 
interface description. 

5.14.3 Installation 

The Leader VMBR is just a VMT that is rack-mountable and co-located 
at the ArcLight Hub. Its output signal is transmitted over the Hub 
forward link and received at the MCD. When closed-loop power control 

is enabled, its signal is used as the uplink signal power reference for 
the entire VMT population. Refer to the ArcLight Hub Installation Guide 

for more information about the Monitor VMBR installation. 

5.14.4 Configuration 

The Leader VMBR is configured using its serial port or via its Ethernet 
port using Telnet. The parameters that require configuration are the 

Ethernet interface IP address and return link signal parameters. Once 
those are configured, the return link traffic can be sent and received by 
the Hub MCD. 

5.14.5 Operation 

In normal operation the Leader VMBR is connected to the ArcLight Hub 
main LAN segment 10.1.1.0/24 via its Ethernet interface, e.g. 
10.1.1.125/24. When in normal operation it usually requires very little 

interaction. If needed it can be accessed using its Telnet server. 

5.14.6 Montioring 

The Leader VMBRethernet connectivity is monitored using the IsItUp 

software at the Support Server. 

 

5.14.7 Troubleshooting 

Refer to the ArcLight Hub Troubleshooting Guide for Leader VMBR 

trouble-shooting instructions.
