Checking engine speed
At full load (with the boat cruising) the maxi-
mum engine speed should be about 3,000
resp. 3600 RPM (see technical data page
101
).
If the engine does not reach this speed, it is
being overloaded!
If this is the case, check the ship’s propeller for
defects or irregularities, and also to see that it
is the correct pitch and diameter.
56 Adjusting engine idling speed
If the engine speed differs from that stated
above, it must be adjusted.
The engine idling speed can be reset using
the adjustment screw on the fuel pump.
55 Checking engine speed
The engine idling speed should be 850 rpm.
• Allow the engine to warm up normally (un-
til the coolant temperature reaches at least
60°C (140°F).) before checking and/or ad-
justing the idling speed.
• Check the engine RPM using a rev. counter,
or use the rev. counter fitted to the control
panel.
