WIC AND GENERATOR PLACEMENT
Overview
This section contains the procedures required for physical installation of the WIC and Generator.
Site Selection
Obtain rights-of-way and other permits (building permit, electrical permit, etc.), depending on local codes and
authorities, prior to installing the WIC.
The WIC and Generator are to be installed using one of the following approved foundation kits and options:
1.
WIC Helical Foundation Kit - Helicals screw into the ground 6 feet removing the need for a ground ring.
2.
WIC Concrete Pier/Pad Foundation Kit - To be installed on concrete piers and existing concrete pads.
3.
WIC On The Ground (Gravity) Foundation Kit - To be installed on grade.
NOTE!
Maintain focus on keeping an 18" height between grade and the WIC base. If grade is not level,
maintain an 18" height between grade and the WIC base on the side with the door. The 18" height is
required for the stairs to mount properly.
4.
Vertical Polar Generator Helical Foundation Kit - Helicals screw into the ground to add to the site
grounding.
5.
All Generators Up To 20KW Helical Foundation Kit - Helicals screw into the ground to add to the site
grounding.
6.
All Generators Up To 30KW Helical Foundation Kit - Helicals screw into the ground to add to the site
grounding.
7.
Vertical Polar Generator Concrete Pier/Pad Foundation Kit - To be installed on concrete piers and
existing concrete pads.
8.
All Generators Up To 30KW On The Ground (Gravity) Foundation Kit - To be installed on grade.
9.
WIC and Generator Combo Helical Platform - Helicals screw into the ground 6 feet removing the need
for a ground ring.
10.
WIC and Generator Combo Concrete/On The Ground Platform - To be installed on grade or on concrete.
11.
Generator Wings - To be used with the WIC and Generator Combo Platforms for larger sized generators.
12.
Elevated WIC and Generator Platforms - To be installed in flood planes or anywhere the WIC needs to be
elevated. Helicals remove the need for a ground ring.
Site Location Considerations
Consider the following when deciding on the location for the WIC and Generator.
•
Place the WIC and Generator on servitudes, on dedicated (recorded) easements, or on property owned
by the company. Avoid any unrecorded easements.
•
Use public road and street rights of way only where there is enough space to place the WIC and
Generator and provide safe working conditions. The WIC and Generator should be easily accessible with
