BRAKE
Push the handle forward to activate the brake. During the first braking tests please push gently, as
only a small effort is needed to brake the vehicle.
Pull lever back to release the brake.
IMPORTANT:
When fully applying the brakes, your arm should not be fully extended. Also, you
should
not
have to rotate your shoulder beyond a reasonable reach to fully apply the
brakes. You may have to adjust your seat to prevent the above.
LOCKING THE BRAKE
As a starting aid, for example when standing at a hill, at a light or when changing the cruising range in
automatic transmissions, the hand control is equipped with a brake lock button:
In order to lock the brake, push the handle forward into the brake position. Before letting go of the
handle, push in and hold the brake lock button on the side of the accelerator handle and release the
handle: The pressure of the pedal now holds the lock.
To unlock, slightly push the brake lever. The lock releases automatically. There is no need to push
the brake lock button again.
WARNING:
The brake lock button is simply a starting aid. It does not replace the use of a regular
parking brake (hand or foot parking brake) and should not be used when parking
uphill/downhill and leaving the vehicle because internal hydraulic leakage and
discharge will make the brake inoperative. To park the vehicle, always use the parking
brake and put the gear lever in “P” position.
DISENGAGE THE HAND CONTROL
Depending on the vehicle the hand control can be folded out of the way for drivers using their feet
to work the gas & brake.
IMPORTANT:
Inform other drivers that the vehicle is equipped with a hand control, and demonstrate
how to disengage it.
See Figure 4.
