Transparent Data
Port
The second serial interface on the front panel of the
VideoJet
X.21/G.703
offers a transparent serial data channel between the
receiver (e.g. COM port of a PC) and the
VideoJet
XS/GS
sender.
Typical applications for the transparent data channel are remote
control of peripheral equipment, e.g. pan/tilt/zoom facilities of
selected cameras. In addition this channel can be used for remote
control of any external device with a serial interface. The serial data
is transferred in parallel to the video and audio data.
The following interface parameters are preconfigured and can be
changed with the
NCTerminal
program:

9,600 baud
l 8 data bits
l 1 stop bit
l No parity
Note that transmission of transparent data is enabled only after a
video connection has been established.
Also note that the RS-232 interface for the transparent data port
does not support hardware flow control. If those signals are
required, we recommend replacing the transparent data port with
the
NCTerminal
port. This special function is described more fully in
Chapter 5 under Interface Configuration.
