Diesel fuel system , bleeding
If the fuel tank has been allowed to run dry,
it will be necessary to a ir vent or bleed the
system before attem pting to start the
engine.
Fill the tank with fuel and proceed a s
follows:
1. Remov e the protective cover
3 from the
in-line supply pump,
2. Pla ce a suitable container undernea th
the vent sc rew to collect fuel,
3. Loosen the fuel filter vent sc rew
(arrowed) by one turn,
4. Manually opera te the in-line supply
pump slowly and steadily until fuel
discharging from the loosened v ent
screw is free of air bubbles,
5. Retighten the vent screw,
6. Refit the protective cover
3 to the
in-line supply pump.
