Use hazard lights. Attempt to park
in a safe position.
Use an emergency phone rather
than a mobile as emergency
services will then know the location
of the vehicle.
Never use a child seat in a front
passenger seat which is fitted with
an active airbag (SRS). Follow all
fitting instructions carefully.
Check seat positioning and security
before use.

When parked, the electronic parking brake
or handbrake should be fully applied with the
vehicle left in first or reverse gear (manual
transmission) or P (Park) for vehicles with
automatic transmission.

NOTE: Vehicles are not usually supplied
with a tyre repair kit (for vehicles that use
this in lieu of a spare wheel).
Key / remote control operated central security deadlocking. Depress the console mounted central locking switch (or door
locking knobs) to lock the doors from the inside. Doors also auto-lock on vehicle motion.
Passive arming of electronic engine deadlock immobiliser after removal of the key from the starter switch. Visible VIN plate.
Some models may be fitted with a security alarm system.
Centrally locked. Use remote tailgate release switch to unlock / open. Estate models may feature hands free tailgate
opening, activated by foot gestures control of sensors fitted below the flanks of the rear bumper.
Manual internal adjustment operated via a control lever on each door or electric internal adjustment operated via a control
knob on the driver’s door.
Electric front operated via control buttons on the driver’s door. Manually operated rear. Or all electrically controlled.
If fitted. Electric tilt/slide sunroof with presets, controlled by roof mounted switchgear.
Child proof locks are fitted to the rear doors. Press the central locking switch to lock all doors. Check from inside that the
doors are securely closed and locked.
Ensure gear selector is in neutral (or N or P if automatic) and electronic parking brake - found adjacent to the gear selector
lever is on. Place ignition key in starter switch (or depress start/stop button to start or stop the engine), depress the clutch
before attempting to start the car. Select desired gear. Release parking brake and brake pedal and gently press the
accelerator to move the vehicle. Some vehicles feature engine start/stop technology where the engine automatically turns off
when the vehicle is static, gears in neutral and foot pedals are not depressed - depress the acclerator to instantly restart.
Centrally locked. Located under flap on rear offside. Remote release. To open: briefly press the flap edge, then lift the edge
of the flap to fully open it, twist off the cap anticlockwise. To close: press the flap closed.
Pull bonnet release lever located to the lower right of the driver’s footwell. Unhook catch under bonnet.
The rear seat is divided into 60:40 sections (or 40:20:40) which can be separately flat folded. To release the seat press the
seat unlocking catch and fold the seat down. To return the seat to normal use, raise the seat and push it firmly to engage the
seat lock. Check it is locked before using the seat.
Vehicle does not normally carry a spare wheel or tyre repair kit. For any assistance in the event of having a punctured
tyre, or should the vehicle not be supplied with a spare wheel and tyre or a tyre repair kit, please call the Europcar
Tyre Helpline 0800 0280 999.
To change gears press the button on the shift lever and move the lever forwards or backwards. Select N for neutral, P
when leaving the vehicle, R for reversing (the vehicle must be at a complete standstill before this gear can be selected).
For normal driving select D where the transmission will use all available forward gears automatically (a ‘kickdown ‘ facility is
provided when the accelerator is pressed all the way to the floor past the normal acceleration point forcing the transmission
to select a lower gear to obtain maximum acceleration. Release pressure on the accelerator to return to normal accelerator
use). Use M+ or M- to manually select gears. Whenever the vehicle is at a standstill apply the electronic parking brake.

NOTE: direction indicators.
A short movement of the indicator stalk upwards or
downwards operates the indicator lights for a brief
time; a deeper movement of the stalk iwill operate the
indicator lights for a long duration. You will not feel a
“click” when the indicators are engaged - but they will
be operational. (The indicators are self cancelling).
