2.6 Maintenance, care, and storage
Due to the mass of the machine, maintenance and adjustment should be performed with the assistance of
another person.
Long-term satisfaction requires due diligent care when cleaning and maintaining the product. Regular maintenance will reduce wear and
ensure proper function of all of its parts.
Follow all directions relating to maintenance intervals and machine adjustments. We recommend that you administer a record of the
number of machine operating hours and the conditions in which it operated (for servicing needs). We recommend that you bring your
machine to one of our authorized service centres for after-season maintenance and for common maintenance if you feel uncertain about
your technical abilities.
A good aid for monitoring the number of engine hours is the
VARI PowerMeter
. Ask your retailer for information!
Before every use, check that the screws that fasten the work tool and the protection elements, covers, and
engine are properly tightened!
Replace lost screw connections with original parts that were specifically designed for the given location. The use
of low-quality aftermarket parts may lead to injury or may damage the machine!
2.6.1 Drive wheels
2.6.1.1 Tyre pressure
To assure proper function and to provide long life of drive wheels, especially tyre-casings, the pressure in the tyres must be checked.
Perform the inspection before using the machine. If the machine will not be used for an extended period of time, fill the tyres to the
MAX
(see below) tyre pressure. The tyre pressure should be the same in both tyres – the machine is better able to maintain a straight path.
Do not exceed the maximum tyre pressure – the tyre may explode!
If the tyre pressure is low, the tube valve may be cut.
MAX
imal (recommended) tyre pressure:
20 PSI
(
137 kPa
or
1,38 bar
or
1,36 atm
or
0,138 Mpa
)
MIN
imal
permitted tyre pressure:
18 PSI
(
124,1 kPa
or
1,24 bar
or
1,22 atm
or
0,124 Mpa
)
If the tyres permanently leak air, check if the tyre casing is damaged – if so, repair.
If you are not sufficiently technically competent, assign this task to a professional service centre.
2.6.2 Lubrication of the machine
When working with lubricants, follow basic hygiene rules and regulations and laws for protecting the environment.
If you are not sufficiently technically competent, assign this task to a professional service centre.
Adequate care must be taken when lubricating to ensure problem-free and easy movement of all mechanical parts. Usually, several drops
of oil will suffice (e.g. bicycle oil). The gearbox is factory filled with sufficient oil, which does not need to be changed during the life of the
machine.
Check the oil level in the gearbox. If leaking, fill up with recommended oil.
2.6.2.1 Changing the engine oil
Follow the directions specified in the engine operating manual. Reduce the exchange intervals to one half, if you use the machine in a
dusty environment. When draining the engine oil, tilt the machine to the side, where the filler and oil dipstick are or remove the entire
engine from the frame with the engine plate.
If you are not sufficiently technically competent, assign this task to a professional service centre.
2.6.3 Recommendations for winter operation of the machine
2.6.3.1 Engine operation
The
air filter
: we recommend removing the air filter cartridge. This prevents the freezing of the air filter.
NOTE:
this only applies when
the engine is operated in a dust-free space!
Engine oil:
when changing oil use a fully synthetic engine oil, e.g.
SAE 5W-30/API SE
or higher.
Spark plug:
we recommend using a spark plug
NGK BPR4ES
, original order no. HONDA is
98079-54846
.
2.6.3.2 Machine operation
Before the winter season, lubricate thoroughly the bowden cables with water and moisture repellent oil. This will prevent operating
complications and possible freezing of the wire in the bowden cable.
68
If the tyre pressure is below the minimal level, the tyre casing becomes damaged and the life expectancy of the tyre is thereby significantly reduced.
