Note:  On some VL6 luminaires, the two PEM nuts used to secure the 
dimmer bulkhead to the head assembly become loose.  To repair loose 
PEM nuts, you must remove the nut and install AVK knurled inserts.  The 
inserts slide into the casting and are tightened with a special installation 
tool.

Parts:

1 EA INSERT, KNURLED THREADED 6-32 (53.7004.0001)

Tools:

Screwdriver, #2 slotted
Hand drill with #1 (0.228) inch bit
AVK insert installation tool (07.4010.0002)
Hammer
Punch

To repair loose PEM nuts:

Step 1. Using slotted screwdriver, pry off loose PEM nut.  (If screwdriver 

will not remove nut, use a hammer and punch, or drill hole with 
0.228"dia. drill bit.)

Step 2. Using drill and #1 (0.228) inch bit, enlarge hole.  

Step 3. Insert 6-32 threaded knurled insert into AVK insert installation 

tool (07-4010-0002) (

Figure 3-22

).  

Step 4. Using AVK insert tool, install 6-32 threaded knurled insert into 

mounting hole.  (Instructions for using the tool are provided in the 
tool packaging.)
