Fork crown race and bearing remover
DR-10100
DR-10100
is a precision tool for quick and easy removal of the headset crown race f
rom the fork’s crown race
seat of the fork column. Our universal design works
great with 1” and 1-1/8” and also 1-1/4” and 1.5 tapered fork
columns (suspension or rigid) and crown races with outside diameters up to 60mm.
DR-10100
accepts steering columns from 3,5 to 32,2cm (1.3
8’’ to 12.68’’) in length when equipped with one
extension tube. Each extension tube length is 9,8cm
(3.86’’)
DR-10117.
DR-10100
also removes Campagnolo® and Fulcrum® Ultra Torque and Power Torque cartridge bearings from
crank spindles.
All CNC machined steel construction for ultimate precision and long life.
Instructions
1. Insert fork into your swivel fork clamp
FH-92700
or bench mount repair stand
PR-90500
. This allows the fork to
be held solidly, freeing both hands for easier and more comfortable operation.
2. Slide fork column into crown race remover. To insert fork column deeper into tool, turn handle in a
counterclockwise direction.
3. To get collet to open wider than outside diameter of crown race, simply turn tool mandrel in a counterclockwise
direction. Then turn tool body in a clockwise direction until blades begin to wedge under chamfered area of
crown race. Keep on tightening until blades are snug under crown race.
4. Turn handles until pressing disc inside tube begins pressing on top of fork column. Keep on turning handles to
fully remove crown race. Some forks and crown races have very little space for
DR-10100
to wedge under
crown race. Never over tighten tool mandrel as it may damage tool. As chamfered side of crown race is very
narrow, turn handles slowly. If you turn handles too fast, collet might slip off and be damaged.
Precautions for use
Non chamfered crown races are not compatible with
DR-10100
. Always be sure to put chamfered side of crown race
downwards, otherwise you will damage tool. Warranty will not apply in case of misuse or tool modification.
Bearing removal
The
DR-10100
is also designed to remove the pressed bearing on Campagnolo® and Fulcrum® Ultra Torque and
Power Torque cranks.
1. Remove snap ring from crank spindle (chainring side)
before
the bearing can be removed. Failure to remove
snap ring will damage tool. A small flat blade screwdriver such as
DV-71102
can do the job.
2. Position bearing remover over crank spindle and turn handles to allow
collet’s blades to fit between bearing and
crank.
