Pressed-in bottom braket adaptor selection
Important information
Zero Stack (ZS) head tubes do not need any tapered bushings. Using tapered
bushings during an ZS headset installation can irremediably damage the cups.
Using the headset press without the tapered bushings is here warmly
recommended.
It is also possible to use the headset press without any tapered bushings during
some 1’’1/2 headset cups installation.
Important information
Using the tapered bushings during external headset (EC) cups with pre-installed
bearings installation is not recommended : the pressure transmission is done by the
bearing, that could damage it.
Using the headset press without the tapered bushings is here warmly
recommended.
Headset preliminary informations
To determine the right headset to install, VAR
DV-11600
calliper is an excellent
partner. It allows to determine the SHIS code and the right cups dimensions to install
on the frame.
Before installing any headset, ensure the correct straightness of the headtube. Using
the SHIS code and the calliper, note the headtube internal diameter. If necessary,
ream and surface the headtube using
VAR CD-03600
facing kit and the appropriate
cutter to find a frame with the correct dimensions.
Pressed-in bottom bracket preliminary informations

DV-11600
calliper is an
excellent partner. It allows to measure the bottom bracket shell internal diameter
and width, so the right choice can be done..
Refer the table above to select the right adaptors.
