Chapter 1 Understanding BIOS
1.1 BIOS
BIOS is the first program executed after power on. It is in the middle level of hardware and system. As a part of power on,
BIOS needs to initialize hardware devices including CPU and memory, save hardware settings for operating system
installation and loading.
BIOS will start to execute only after the power on button is pressed, and the execution right will be handed over to the
operating system after entering the system, so the life cycle of BIOS starts from power on and end when system boot is
completed.
1.1.1 How to enter BIOS configuration page
We can enter BIOS configuration by pressing ESC key when POST.
Continue
Continue boot from default boot device.
Boot Manager
Under this page, you can view all boot devices, including USB sticks, SSD, etc.
Boot From File
Choose to boot from internal file of boot device, only for EFI boot devices.
Administer Secure Boot
Configure secure boot function, which can prevent or allow the specified system to boot.
Setup Utility
The main contents of BIOS configuration are all under this page function, but the default configuration here is best modified
carefully to avoid unpredictable situation.
