WMT700 sends the following message that starts with the SOH character which is
excluded from the checksum. The checksum ends before the EOT character. The
checksum (in this case, D8) is printed after the EOT character.

5.9.2 Status Flags

The following list describes the status flags included in the data message when the status
code item

Status flags are coded in decimal number format. To extract each bit from the status code,
the decimal number must be converted to binary format.
