Care and maintenance

Freezer bags, aluminium foil and plastic containers are all suitable types of packaging,
depending on the item you are storing. You can prevent freezer burn by packaging food
in a way that is as airtight as possible.
Do not refreeze food once it has thawed. It will need to be cooked first before it can be
refrozen.
Blanch vegetables before freezing them. However, do not blanch aubergines, peppers,
courgettes, mushrooms, asparagus or herbs.
The following items are not suitable for freezing: radishes, leaf salads, cucumbers, raw
eggs in their shells, boiled eggs and dairy products such as yoghurt, cream cheese, quark
or mayonnaise.
If possible, do not thaw frozen foods at room temperature or over a heat source. Placing
frozen food in the refrigerator compartment is a gentle way of thawing it. However,
microwave ovens and steamers may provide a quick alternative.

Notes on saving energy
If possible, leave the drawers, glass shelves and door trays in the positions they were in
upon delivery. These positions are designed to maximise efficiency and distribute the
temperature as evenly as possible.
Only open the appliance doors when necessary and keep them open for as short a time
as possible.
Leave warm or hot food/other items to cool down before placing them in the appliance.
Store foods that release moisture in closed containers or covered in the refrigerator
compartment, if possible. Moisture will reduce the cooling output.
To optimise air circulation, do not place food or other items too close together.

Care and maintenance
10.1 Cleaning
For hygienic food storage, the interior should be kept clean at all times.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or cloths. When cleaning plastic surfaces, do not
press down too hard on them.
Do not use cleaning agents containing acids or strong bases on metal surfaces.
Risk of damage to the appliance.
Condensation may form in the vegetable drawers and on the glass shelves, depending
on the type and quantity of the food that is stored there. Wipe away the condensation
regularly using a dry cloth.
Regularly wipe the interior with a mild alkaline solution and dry it completely.
The operating and display elements should only be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth.
Every so often, check the door seals for soiling, clean them with a soft brush and clean
water as necessary, then wipe them dry.
Switch off the appliance if you are not going to use it for an extended period.
Clear out and clean the appliance, and leave the refrigerator compartment door and freezer
compartment door open.
