membrane loading and unloading. Two additional 3-way pilot solenoid valves
are supplied, mounted and wired to the main control panel for connection to
the product and product rinse diaphragm valves. The product and product rinse
diaphragm valves are usually located after post treatment equipment, like a
continuous deionization unit, or immediately prior to a distribution storage
tank. By not including and mounting the valves on the RO unit, the location of
these valves can be optimized for maximum rinsing capabilities.
Cleaning connections are provided to clean the RO membranes and pressure
vessels. The connections utilize swing-out elbows for absolute isolation of the
cleaning solution flow and pressure. All of the cleaning connections are
victaulic type with the exception of the product connections which are sanitary
Tri Clamp type.
Sanitization connections are provided to facilitate sanitization of the RO unit.
There are flange connections on the inlet and reject lines used to redirect these
flow to the cleaning/sanitization equipment (by others). The cleaning
connection on the product line, which is sanitary Tri Clamp type, is also used
for unit sanitization.

Electrical Description
The RO unit’s control system is comprised of a main control panel, a high
voltage control panel and skid mounted wiring. The main control panel is an
epoxy coated NEMA 12 enclosure housing an Allen Bradley SLC-500
programmable logic controller (PLC) for the integral control of the RO unit as
well as discrete inputs and outputs for communicating with the pretreatment
and post treatment equipment. The PLC is fully programmable and the control
system is integrity tested at the factory prior to shipment. The high voltage
control panel is an epoxy coated NEMA 12 enclosure housing an IEC motor
starter and high voltage disconnect. Electrical service to the RO unit is a single
power drop of 460v-3
-60hz to this cabinet. The high voltage control panel
also houses a step down transformer to supply 120v-1
-60hz to the main
control panel.
The main control panel and high voltage control panel are mounted on the
RO’s structural steel frame in such a way to allow easy access to process
monitors and control devices such as lights and switches.
Discrete Input and output points are supplied for communication with the
pretreatment and post treatment systems. These discrete points are wired to
terminal blocks in the main control panel for ease of interfacing the systems.
The unit’s skid wiring is arranged and protected in conduit runs. Full
documentation of the PLC software is provided.
