This is an easy issue to resolve by following the steps below:

Uninstall your MESA base.

Adjust the level adjustment foot to achieve proper recline level.
3 NOTE:
The level angle indicators are located on either side of
the base and bubble must be within the lines. In cases where
a waterfall is present, we recommend extending the foot to its
HIGHEST position.

Push the base into the seat back. If there is a gap between the top
of the MESA base and the back of the vehicle seat, place a rolled hand
towel in the gap flush with the top of the base.

Proceed to
BASE INSTALLATION WITH VEHICLE SEAT BELT
(pg 32 or 34) based on your method of installation). Follow Safety
Check (pg 38) to confirm proper installation.
