Chapter 5: UAD Meter & Control Panel
The UAD Meter & Control Panel application is used to authorize UAD plug‑ins, monitor
UAD device resources, configure the global UAD plug‑in system parameters, and confirm
the UAD system is operating properly. The application consists of two components: The
UAD Meter, and the UAD Control Panels.
UAD Meter – This window displays the current DSP, program, and memory status of the
UAD hardware (these gauges are also displayed within the Live Rack application).
UAD Meter Window
UAD Control Panel – This window (
) has multiple panels that display and
modify various system, plug‑in, and configuration parameters.
With UAD‑2 Live Rack, the UAD Meter & Control Panel application is used primarily for
UAD plug‑in authorization, viewing the individual resources of multiple UAD‑2 Live Rack
units, and starting demo periods for UAD plug‑ins.
Launching the Application
The UAD Meter & Control Panel can be opened using either of these
methods:
• Single‑click the UAD Meter & Control Panel icon (shown at right)
that was placed in the macOS Dock during software installation, or
• Double‑click the UAD Meter & Control Panel application that was installed to:
/Applications/Universal Audio/
Using the UAD Meter
The UAD Meter & Control Panel can be launched or quit at any time. It does not need
to be open or active to use the Live Rack application or UAD plug‑ins; it is completely
independent. You can move the UAD Meter to a convenient location on your screen by
dragging its window title bar.
Note: If “No Devices Found” appears in the UAD Meter window instead of the
expected buttons and gauges, the UAD-2 Live Rack drivers are not communicating
with the UAD-2 Live Rack hardware. If this occurs, double-check the hardware
and software installations, make sure the hardware is powered and connected to
the computer, and/or contact customer support.
