1.6 Polarity
The EV3000-D thermal camera provides the capability for the operator to change temperature polarity in
order to view scenes more clearly. Either white=hot (WH Hot) or black=hot (Blk Hot) can be selected
to choose the polarity of the video signal. When WH Hot is selected, lighter shades indicate hotter
temperatures. That is, relatively hot objects in the scene are displayed as white on the monitor. Cooler
objects appear darker. If Blk Hot is selected, just the opposite occurs. Relatively hot objects in the
scene are displayed as black on the monitor. Cooler objects appear lighter.
The Iron and Rainbow palettes can also be inverted.
The operator should try both settings while adjusting Level and Gain to find the optimum settings for a
given set of conditions.
