THE DOOR
Using a pencil, mark the edge of the door to be routed at the
centre point where you want the hinge to sit with a horizontal line.
Repeat this process for further hinges down the length of the
door. Select the 75mm or 100 mm side of the jig. The figure
shows the 75 mm side being used. Place the jig on the edge of
the door such that the peg holes are at the opening face of the
door and the centre engraved line matches up with the pencil line
on the door edge.
Push the pegs into the holes from the top face of the jig and align
the pegs to the face of the door.
Clamp the jig in position or hold the jig in place by fixing with
bradawls through the bradawl holes in the jig. Set the router to
cut slightly deeper than the thickness of the hinge and starting in
a corner, plunge the cutter to depth and route out the recess in a
clockwise direction. Square off the corners with the corner chisel.
Once routing is complete slide the jig down the door to the next
pencil line, fix in place and repeat routing process. Repeat for
any other hinge recesses needed.
