The Astra 4000U scanners have been designed to be reliable, easy-to-install, and easy-to-use. If you
encounter any problems while installing or using your scanner, please follow the solutions outlined below.

Using Online Manuals
All bundled software comes with online help, which essentially is an online manual. Read the following
information to find out how to access the manuals for each individual software application.
Accessing the UMAX VistaScan Online Manual
For PC Users:
If the VistaScan application is already open, you can locate the manual by clicking on the user tips that pop
up when your mouse scrolls over a tool. If VistaScan is not open, follow the instructions below.

. Your Internet browser should launch the
VistaScan User’s Guide

For Macintosh Users:
If the VistaScan application is already open, you can locate the manual by clicking on the “?” icon located
in the upper right corner. If VistaScan is not open, follow the instructions below.

Hard Drive
icon on the desktop.
2. Double-click
the
UMAX VistaScan
folder.
3. Double-click

Accessing the Adobe PhotoShop Online Manual
For PC Users:
1. Place the PhotoShop LE CD in the CD-ROM drive. (If the install screen automatically launches, skip
to step 4.)
2. Double-click
My Computer

3. Right-click
the
CD-ROM drive
and select
AutoPlay
.
4. Click
ReadMe & Guide
. From here, you can select the manual best suited to your needs.
