Checking signal strength
Q-Value:
This number represents the per-
cent of the expected transmissions received
from a sensor over the past four days or
since the Base Station was last restarted -
whichever is shorter. This value is “0” until
the first 90 minute interval has passed. If
the Q-Value is below 40% or few or no solid
boxes are drawn by the Short-term Signal
indicator, a Repeater may be advisable. In
this example, the Q-Value is 23%.
Repeater Properly Installed:
The Repeater
NWA can be found on a label inside the Re-
peater beneath the DC terminals. Each Re-
peater transmits a unique NWA that always
begins with “FA” to identify it as a Repeater
and not a sensor.
To confirm a Repeater is within range of the
Base Station:
1) Manually assign the Repeater NWA to
zone 6 of the base station as if it were a
sensor (see page 22 of the Base Station
user manual.)
2) Plug in Repeater in desired location.
3) Press “On/Off” twice or until the button
light begins blinking. The Repeater NWA
will be transmitted.
4) Return to the Base Station and navigate
to the View Sensor screen. Press
“Select” until the Repeater NWA is
displayed. Check to see that at least one
solid box has been drawn in the Short-
term Signal Strength Indicator to confirm
receipt of the NWA.
If no boxes have been drawn, reposition
Repeater and repeat steps 3-4 until NWA
is received by the Base Station.
5) Delete the Repeater NWA from zone 6.
(page 21)
Multiple Repeaters:
If multiple Repeaters
are installed to “hop” a sensor signal from
a distant location, follow steps above with
all Repeaters on and confirm that the Base
Station receives the NWA from the distant
Repeater.
