3.
MAKE SURE TO READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AS OUTLINED IN THE MANUFACTURER’S
MANUAL FOR THE BOAT YOU WILL WINCH.
Make sure to attach the
Strap/Hook (part #9) of the Winch to the boat manufacturer’s recommended
pulling point.
4.
ALWAYS EXAMINE THE WINCH FOR STRUCTURAL CRACKS, BENDS,
DAMAGE, FRAYED OR TORN STRAP, AND ANY OTHER CONDITIONS THAT
MAY AFFECT THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE WINCH.
Do not use the Winch
even if minor damage appears.
5.
MAINTAIN A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT.
Keep the work area well lit.
Make sure there is adequate surrounding workspace. Always keep the work
area free of obstructions, grease, oil, trash, and other debris.
6.
ALWAYS KEEP HANDS AND FINGERS AWAY FROM THE GEARS OF THE
WINCH WHEN APPLYING OR RELEASING A LOAD.
Remain clear of the
Strap/Hook (part #9) when pulling a load. Do not stand in line with the Strap/
Hook, as it could whip violently should it break. People and animals should be
kept at a safe distance when using the Winch.
7.
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN APPLYING OR RELEASING A LOAD.
Never allow the load to suddenly release. Slowly and carefully apply and release
the load.
8.
NEVER WINCH A BOAT WITH ANYONE IN IT.
9.
PRIOR TO USING THE WINCH, MAKE SURE THE RATCHET PAWL IS
ENGAGED.
Never let go of the Handle (part #7) until the Ratchet Pawl is fully
engaged and supporting the load. If not, the Handle can spin dangerously back-
wards which can result in serious personal injury and/or property damage.
(See Figure A, next page.)
10.
DO NOT ADJUST THE WINCH HEIGHT WHILE IT IS UNDER A LOAD.
Always
use the lowest possible practical height of the Winch when cranking a load to
minimize bending stress on the Winch.
11.
THE WINCH IS DESIGNED FOR MOUNTING ON SQUARE OR RECTANGU-
LAR SURFACES ONLY.
Do not attempt to mount the Winch on a rounded
surface.
