SILT FENCING

1. Using a shovel or backhoe (not included), dig a
trench line approximately 6" deep by 6" wide where
the silt fencing is to be placed. (See Figure 1)
NOTE: Avoid placing silt fencing on steep
slopes.
2. Unroll and extend silt fencing along trench line.
(See Figure 2)
3. Drive the end stake into ground using a rubber
mallet (not included) so that at least 6" of fabric sits
inside the trench. (See Figure 3)
NOTE: A red reference line is printed on the
fabric 6" from the bottom.
4. Continue driving the remaining posts into the ground,
starting with the post adjacent to end post.
NOTE: Ensure fabric is pulled taut between
posts.
5. Backfill trench with dirt and pack so that fabric is
securely buried in the ground. (See Figure 4)
MAINTENANCE
• Check silt fencing periodically for damage,
especially after heavy rainfall.
• Remove excess sediment.
• Replace silt fencing every five to eight months.
