Move Generator to Safe Operating
Location
1. Move generator outdoors to a flat, level
surface, in an area that will not accumulate
deadly exhaust gas. DO NOT place
generator where exhaust gas could
accumulate and enter inside or be drawn
into a potentially occupied building. Ensure
exhaust gas is kept away from any windows,
doors, ventilation intakes, or other openings
that can allow exhaust gas to collect in a
confined area. Prevailing winds and air
currents should be taken into consideration
when positioning generator.
14
2. To reduce the risk of exhaust heat or
exhaust gases igniting nearby combustible
material, keep at least 5 ft (1.5 m) clearance
on all sides of generator, including overhead.

Start Generator
NOTICE
Always unplug the battery float charger before starting
the generator.
1. Make sure unit is on a level surface. Disconnect all electrical
loads from the generator.
2. Turn the fuel valve (AA) to the ON (I) position.
15
3. Set on/off switch (BB) to ON (I) position.
16
4. Pull choke handle (CC) out to CHOKE ( ) position.
16
5. For electric starting
, push and hold the start switch (DD)
in START position until generator starts. To prolong the life
of starter components, DO NOT hold start switch in START
position for more than 5 seconds, and pause for at least
1 minute between starting attempts. When engine starts,
proceed to step 6.
16
For manual starting
, grasp recoil handle and pull slowly until
slight resistance is felt. Then pull rapidly one time only to start
engine.
NOTICE
If battery is discharged, use manual starting
instructions.
6. As the engine warms up, gradually push choke handle in to
RUN ( ) position.
7. If engine does not start, refer to operator’s manual for detailed
starting instructions.
Plug in Items to be Powered
1. Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes after
starting.
2. Ensure rocker switch circuit breakers (FF) on main panel are
in ON (I) position.
16
3. Plug in and turn on the desired 120 Volt (EE) and/or 240 Volt
(GG) AC, single phase, 60 Hz electrical loads.
16
4. If using the 25 ft. (7.6 m) accessory cord with the Extend-
a-panel™ always make sure to follow all safeties and
instructions on cord.
NOTICE
When plugging into the 120 Volt (EE) receptacles, plug
items to be powered in sequence as shown.
16
NOTICE
Exceeding generators wattage/amperage capacity can
damage generator and/or electrical devices connected to it. Refer
to
Do Not Overload Generator
section of Operator’s Manual.
Shut Down Generator
1. Turn OFF and unplug all electrical loads from generator
panel receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical
devices plugged in and turned ON.
2. Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize
internal temperatures of engine and generator.
3. Set on/off switch (BB) to OFF (0) position.
16
4. Move fuel valve (AA) to OFF (0) position.
15
5. To prepare for storage, refer to Operator’s Manual.
WARNING
Damaged or overloaded electrical cords could
overheat, arc, and burn resulting in death or serious injury.
ONLY use cords rated for your loads. Follow all safeties on
electrical cords. Inspect cord sets before each use.
