As ducts may expand and walls may become deformed

in the event of a fire, we recommend using flexible con-

nectors when connecting the damper to sheet steel

smoke extract ducts: The flexible connectors should

meet the specifications for the sheet steel smoke extract

duct. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.

6.2 Cover grilles

If no smoke extract duct is connected to the smoke con-

trol damper, a cover grille (galvanised steel, mesh aper-

ture ≤ 20 mm) may be fixed instead to protect that side

of the damper.

6.3 Inspection access

The interior of the smoke control damper must remain

accessible for maintenance. Depending on the installa-

tion configuration and if the smoke control damper does

not have an inspection access panel, it may be neces-

sary to provide additional inspection access panels in

the connecting ducts.
