Driver installation for USB devices
In order to use the database or the online mode of the reader in connection with the PC, a driver has
to be installed on the PC to provide it a serial interface (COM port).
Therefore the ARE H5 has to be connected to the PC with the USB cable included.
Open the device manager of the PC by typing “devmgmt.msc” to the Windows command line and start
it with a mouse klick to the program or a carriage return.
If the driver is not installed jet, the ARE H5 occurs as “AEG ID HID Keyboard Emulation” with an
exclamation mark in “Other devices” at first.
With a click of the right mouse button to the device and with the selection “Update Driver Soft-
ware…” the following dialog is opened:
