Texas Hold ‘em
2 to 10 players
Playing the Game:
Place dealer button in front of dealer. Place small blind marker in front of first player to
the left of the dealer. Place big blind marker in front of player to the left of the small
marker.
Posting the blinds: First player to the left of the dealer posts a bet called the
small blind.
Note:
Some tables have predetermined minimum bets. The small blind is usually equal
to half the minimum bet.
The player to the left of the small blind posts the
big blind.
The big blind is equal to or
greater than the minimum bet.
Dealer shuffles a complete deck of 52 playing cards.
Each player is dealt two cards face down. These are your
hole
or
cards.
The player to the left of the big blind starts a round of betting. This is usually referred to
as the
pre-flop
. Players may check, call, raise or fold.
Check:
A check passes the action to the next player. If all players check, the next card is turned
and the player’s options repeat.
Call:
Player matches the current bet.
Raise:
Player matches the current bet and then increases the amount equal or greater than the
minimum bid, which was determined by the big blind.
Fold:
Player throws in their hand, forfeiting the current round of play and any bids currently in
the pot.
Note:
some tables limit the table to three rounds of raising and re-raising per round of
betting. Table limits should be determined prior to play.
