3 Software Installation 

 
The USB-2-485 is hot-pluggable. There is no need to power-off the PC while plugging in or removing the USB-2-
485 device. When you plug in the USB-2-485 device for the first time you will be prompted for a suitable device 
driver. Please note that you have to be logged in with administrator privileges in order to be able to install the 
device driver on Windows 2000 or Windows XP systems.  
 
The device driver installation process will be shown here for Windows XP systems only, but, the required steps will 
be similar for other Windows operating systems, too.  
 
After connecting the USB-2-485 to a spare USB port on your PC the “Found New Hardware Wizard” will be started. 
 

 

 
Select “No, not this time” and continue. Within the next window (shown below) select “Install from a list or specific 
location (Advanced)” as shown below and continue:
