For devices with write-protect switch

 

Please push write-protect switch (C) to the desired position 

before

 connecting to 

a computer. The closed padlock icon stands for enabled write protection and the 

open padlock icon for disabled write protection. 

a)  Connect the USB 3.0 port of your DataStation with a USB 3.0 port of your 

computer. Please use only the provided USB 3.0 cable.

  Thanks to the downward compatibility of USB 3.0 you can also connect your 

DataStation to a USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 port of your computer. In this case, you will 

not be able to benefit from the higher data transfer rate that you can get when 

you connect the DataStation via USB 3.0. When connecting via an older USB 

standard, please also use the provided USB 3.0 cable.

b)  Your operating system automatically recognizes the DataStation

For devices with write-protect switch 

When write protection is activated, you can open, view, and edit the files on the 

DataStation, and copy them from the DataStation to the connected computer. 

You cannot move, overwrite or delete the files, however.

a)  Select the desired files or folders with your mouse.
b)  Position the mouse pointer over the selected files or folders, and press the 

right mouse button. Select "
