4. The Bass Master is equipped with four tone controls: Treble, Bass and Low and High
Range Expanders. The Treble and Bass controls function as most traditional tone controls
and the Range Expanders effectively function as what are now more commonly called
a Mid and Presence control. These controls are typically set low for use with bass and
turned up when used with guitar.
5. When the Bass Master is pushed further into distortion, it may be noticed that the tone
controls become less effective. This is a symptom of clipping occurring in the output power
tubes. Don’t be alarmed, power tube distortion is often desirable to guitarists and the Bass
Master has been specifically designed to handle this.
6. A new feature added to this edition of the Bass Master is a power attenuator. When set
at full, the Attenuator is completely out of the circuit and the amp is allowed to operate at
full power. As the Attenuator is turned down, the output level of the amp will start to drop
but you will notice the characteristic of the amp is left relatively unchanged. This is a great
feature to use when playing at home.
