Chapter 7

Preventive Maintenance

This chapter provides schedules and instructions for performing 
preventive maintenance on the IT2200 Reader System with Multimode 
Capability components.

Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Table 7-1 lists the schedule of preventive maintenance activities for the IT2200 
Reader System with Multimode Capability components.

Table 7-1  Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Visual Inspection

The IT2200 Reader System with Multimode Capability is very reliable, so many prob-
lems will be due to external causes, such as damage to components. Visually inspect 
each system component and replace or repair components as needed. Replacement 
procedures are listed later in this chapter.

To perform a visual inspection

1.

Inspect the antennas for signs of damage or corrosion.

2.

Check the RF module housing for signs of water leakage that might indicate a 
broken or loose connector or a damaged seal.

3.

Check cables between the RF module, antennas, and reader. Look for damage or 
loose connections.

Use the flowchart in Figure 7-1 as a guide for performing visual inspections.

physical damage such as cracks or stressed cables.

Visually inspect all antenna and RF module cables for signs of 
damage or water invasion.
