Section 16. Independent Charge Verification
To perform the Independent Charge Verification test,
begin by charging the system to the Minimum Liquid
Temperature or Maximum Liquid Line Pressure,
whichever is reached first.
6”
STEP 1 - Measure the outdoor ambient temperature
entering the condenser. Record the results on
LINE 1 of the Charge Verification Worksheet.
NOTE: The Outdoor Ambient Temperature should be
between 60
F˚ - 105 F˚. If the Outdoor Ambient
Temperature is outside this range this test
cannot be completed with accurate results.
STEP 2 - Stabilize the system by operating the
system in cooling mode for a minimum of ten (10)
minutes. If Suction Line Pressure is below 115 PSIG
the system may experience fluctuations in pressures
and temperatures and test results may not be
accurate.
When system is stabilized measure Suction Line
Pressure and enter the result on LINE 2 of the
Charge Verification Worksheet.
STEP 3 - With the system still stabalized, measure
the Liquid Line Pressure and record the result on
LINE 3 of the Charge Verification Worksheet.
STEP 4 - Measure the Liquid Line Temperature by
attaching a K-type temperature probe to the Liquid
Line close to the Liquid Line Service Valve. The
probe must be insulated. Record the results on LINE
4 of the Charge Verification Worksheet.

When the system is charged, follow these steps to verify
that the Subcooling Difference is within the tolerance
range.
