F. Measuring Elevation Back Lash
Figure 88 - Elevation Movement (Back Lash)
(1) When power is not applied to the searchlight, there will be an allowable amount of vertical
movement (back lash) of the lamp assembly in the elevation plane. The maximum allowable
amount of movement is 8 mm (refer Figure 88).
(2) This movement may be measured using the following method.
(a) Raise the rear of the lamp assembly until movement stops (Figure 88).
(b) Place a graduated straight edge against the rear of the fairing assembly (Figure 88) and
measure the distance between the fairing assembly join (Figure 88, a) and the top of the
lamp assembly rear case (Figure 88, b). Record this measurement.
(c) Lower the rear of the lamp assembly until movement stops.
(d) Measure the distance between the fairing assembly join (Figure 88, a) and the top of the
lamp assembly rear case (Figure 88, c). Record this measurement.
NOTE: The difference between the two readings should not be more than 8 mm.
(3) A measurement greater than 8 mm indicates a possible problem with excessive wear in the rear
case boss (Figure 89) and will require servicing/repair. Contact your Trakka Corp approved
Service Agent for further assistance.
