Hub Reinstallation and Bearing Adjustment
The objective of this procedure is to attain 0.001" to 0.010" end play.
1. Place the hub (with inner bearing set and oil seal installed), outer bearing and adjust-
ing nut (inner spindle nut) back on the spindle in the reverse order of removal. Rotate the
hub assembly in both directions while tightening the adjusting nut to approximately 100
lbs.-ft. of torque.
2. Loosen nut to remove preload torque without rotating hub.
3. Hand tighten nut then back off

4. Install tab washer and outer nut. Torque outer nut to 225 to 250 lb.-ft. Insure that the
inner nut does not turn.
5. Bend 2 tabs over outer nut to secure in place.
