27 Volt System
The Prius V is equipped with a 27 Volt AC assist motor for the Electric Power
Steering (EPS) system. The EPS computer generates 27 Volts from the 12 Volt
system. The 27 Volt wires are isolated from the metal chassis and routed a
short distance from the EPS computer to the EPS assist motor in the steering
column.
NOTE:
27 Volts AC has a higher arc potential than 12 Volts DC.
