Installing the Printer Driver
Installing the Printer Driver for SMB Printing
When using the GA-1211-EX/E-EX, you cannot use SMB printing.
The following describes an installation on Windows Vista. The procedure is the same when
other versions of Windows are used.

Open the printer in the network with Windows Explorer, and dou-
ble-click a queue in which the printer driver should be installed.
y When you are using Window Vista, proceed to the next step.
y When you are using Windows operating system other than Windows Vista, proceed
to step 4.
When you are using Windows 2000, select a queue in which the printer driver should be
installed and right-click to make the menu appear, then click [Connect].
y direct - print jobs are sent straight to the printer without spooling.
You cannot change the order of print jobs by moving them, which are sent to this
queue.
y print - print jobs are spooled to the hard disk in the printer and printed out. Use this
queue for general printing.
y hold - print jobs are held until users operate copying or moving them to the Print
queue with the job management tools.
PREPARATIONS:
Before installing the printer driver to use SMB printing, please make sure of the following:
y If a previous version of the printer driver has been installed on the system, it must be removed. (For
instructions on how to remove the printer driver, refer to the
Printing from Windows .)
y The printer is connected to the network and turned on.
y The TCP/IP setting is completed correctly.
y The Windows Printing is completed correctly.
