Install the air cleaner cover with the side indicated as
UP facing up and secure the latches (Fig. 35).
Servicing the Engine Oil
Change oil:
•
After the first 8 operating hours.
•
After every 100 operating hours.
Note: Change oil more frequently when operating
conditions are extremely dusty or sandy.
Oil Type: Detergent oil (API service SF, SG, SH or SJ)
Crankcase Capacity: with filter change, 57 oz. (1.7 l)
without filter change, 47 oz. (1.4 l)
Viscosity: See table below
USE THESE SAE VISCOSITY OILS

Checking the Engine Oil Level
Note: Check the oil when the engine is cold.
1. Disengage the PTO, move the motion control levers to
the neutral locked position and set the parking brake.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Clean around the oil dipstick (Fig. 36) so dirt cannot
fall into engine.

4. Pull the oil dipstick and wipe the metal end clean
(Fig. 36).

Slide the oil dipstick fully into the engine. Pull the
dipstick out and look at the metal end (Fig. 36). If oil
level is low, slowly pour only enough oil into the filler
tube to raise the level to the full mark.
Important
Do not overfill the crankcase with oil
because the engine may be damaged. Do not run engine
with oil below the low mark because the engine may be
damaged.
Changing the Engine Oil
Note:
A hose was included in loose parts. Use this hose to
direct the engine oil into the drain pan. The hose may be
cut to a desired length.
1.
Start the engine and let it run five minutes. This warms
the oil so it drains better.
2. Disengage the PTO, move the motion control levers to
the neutral locked position and set the parking brake.
3. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
4. Clean around the oil dipstick (Fig. 36) so dirt cannot
fall into engine.
5. Place the hose onto oil drain valve to direct oil into
drain pan (Fig. 37).
