Engaging the Parking Brake
Engage the parking brake by pulling the brake lever
up from the handle (
Figure 20 ).

Note:
When the parking brake is engaged, the stop
on the control bar prevents you from raising the
control bar to operate the self-propel drive.
Disengaging the Parking
Brake
Disengage the parking brake by pushing the brake
lever down to the handle (
Figure 21 ).

Note:
When the parking brake is disengaged and the
control bar is up to operate the self-propel drive, the
stop on the control bar prevents you from engaging
the parking brake.
Recycling the Clippings
This machine comes from the factory ready to recycle
grass and leaf clippings back into the lawn. To prepare
the machine to recycle:
•
If the side-discharge chute is on the machine,
remove it and install the side-discharge deflector;
refer to
Removing the Side-Discharge Chute
(page 15) .
•
If the grass bag is on the machine, remove it; refer
to
Removing the Grass Bag (page 14) .
•
If the rear-discharge plug is not installed, grip it by
the handle, raise the rear deflector, and insert it
into the rear-discharge chute until the latch locks
into place; refer to
Figure 22 .
