5.
Apply a light coat of clean oil to the gasket of the new
filter.
6.
Install the new filter, turning it by hand until the gasket
contacts the filter adapter; then tighten it 3/4 turn
more.
Important:
Do not overtighten the filter.
7.
Check the oil level; refer to
Engine Oil (page 21)
.
8.
If necessary, add oil into the fill tube.
9.
Start the engine and let it run for about 3 minutes, and
ensure that there are no leaks.
10.
Stop the engine.
11.
Check the oil level, and add oil if necessary.
Note:
The filter holds some oil, so the oil level may
decrease when installing a new filter.
12.
Install the dipstick.
13.
Dispose of the used oil according to local codes.
Servicing the Air Cleaner
Replacing the Air Filter
Service Interval:
Every 200 hours (more often in dusty
conditions).
Note:
Changing the air filter before it is necessary only
increases the chance of dirt entering the engine when the
filter is removed.
1.
Park the machine on a level surface, stop the engine, set
the parking brake, and remove the key.
2.
Release the latches securing the air-cleaner cover to the
air-cleaner body (

Remove the cover from the air-cleaner body.
4.
Remove the old filter, and install the new filter.
Note:
Inspect the new filter for shipping damage,
checking the sealing end of the filter and the body.
Do not use a damaged element. Insert the new filter
by applying pressure to the outer rim of the element
to seat it in the canister. Do not apply pressure to the
flexible center of the filter.
Note:
Do not clean the used element, because it can
damage the filter media.
5.
Clean the dirt-ejection port located in the removable
cover.
6.
Install the cover so that the dirt-ejection port points
downward.
