Belt Maintenance
Tensioning the Alternator Belt
Service Interval:
After the first 8 hours—Check the
condition and tension of the alternator
belt.
Every 100 hours—Check the condition and tension
of the alternator belt.

Prepare the machine for maintenance; refer to
Preparing for Maintenance (page 52)
.
2.
Open the hood; refer to
Opening the Hood (page 52)
.
3.
Check the tension of the alternator belt by pressing it
(
) midway between the alternator and the
crankshaft pulleys with 10 kg (22 lb) of force.
Note:
The belt should deflect 11 mm (7/16 inch). If
the deflection is incorrect, proceed to step

Loosen the bolt securing the alternator to the brace,
and the alternator pivot bolt. (

Insert a pry bar between the alternator and the engine
and move the alternator outward.

When the belt is tensioned as described in step
