2.
Oil level is too high
•
If the dipstick shows that the oil is too low, add
oil to the engine.
Important:
Use only the kind of oil listed at
the start of this procedure.
Note:
When the engine has no oil in it, you can
first pour about 3/4 of the amount of oil listed at
the start of this procedure into the fill tube.
Slowly
pour small amounts of oil into the oil
fill tube, wait a few minutes and check the level
with the dipstick. Repeat this until the dipstick
indicates that the oil level is good.
Do not
overfill.
•
If the dipstick shows that the oil is
too high, drain out a little oil; refer to
Changing the Engine Oil (page 20).
•
If the top of the oil falls within the marked
section on the dipstick, the oil level is good.
4. Install the dipstick and hand tighten it securely.
Important:
Change the engine oil after the first
5 operating hours
; change it yearly thereafter;
refer to Changing the Engine Oil (page 20).

Install the Recycle Plug or
Grass Bag
No Parts Required
Procedure
You must correctly install the recycle plug (for recycling
or side-discharging) or grass bag (for bagging) or
the
engine will not start
.
The machine has a safety switch, located at the bottom
of a channel on the top, right rear of the mower, that
prevents the mower from operating without a recycle
plug or grass bag. This prevents the machine from
throwing debris at the operator through the rear chute.
For the switch to detect the presence of the recycle plug,
the top of the recycle plug lever must
lie fully
in the
bottom of the channel
