Resetting the Receiver (Clearing the NVRAM)
The
receiver’s
Non
‐
Volatile
Random
Access
Memory
(NVRAM)
holds
data
required
for
satellite
tracking,
such
as
ephemeris
data
and
receiver
position.
The
NVRAM
also
keeps
the
current
receiver’s
settings,
such
as
active
antenna
input,
elevation
masks
and
recording
interval,
and
information
about
the
receiver’s
internal
file
system.
Clearing
the
receiver’s
NVRAM
resets
the
receiver
and
restores
the
factory
default
settings.
Although
resetting
the
receiver
is
not
recommended
as
a
common
practice,
there
are
times
when
it
can
eliminate
communication
or
tracking
problems.
After
performing
a
reset,
the
receiver
requires
time
to
collect
new
ephemerides
and
almanacs
(around
15
minutes).
Resetting
the
receiver
will
not
delete
any
files
already
recorded
in
the
receiver’s
memory,
and
the
NVRAM
keeps
information
about
the
receiver
file
system.
You
can
also
use
TRU
to
clear
the
NVRAM:
1.
Connect
the
receiver
to
a
computer,
and
open
TRU.
See
the
Topcon
Receiver
Utility
(
TRU)
Reference
Manual
for
more
information
about
connecting
the
receiver
to
a
computer.
2.
In
TRU,
connect
to
the
receiver.
