Adding Access Points to your (network) environment

Connecting an Access Point directly to a computer

You can also connect an Access Point directly to your computer. See 

Figure 1-4

. 

Follow these steps:

1.

Install a network card in the computer you want to connect the 
Access Point to.

2.

Select the IP settings of this client.

3.

Install the Access Point.

n

Note: for this connection you need to use a crosswired cable. 

You can now use the wireless network.

4.

Optionally, configure the Access Point from your computer using 
KickStart and the Web Interface (see chapter 

3: ‘Configuring the 

Access Point’ on page 21

). 

5.

Install the wireless client(s).
