Replace anode

if it is corroded excessively.
19) Inspection of Anode

Check anode

for build up of scale and adherence of
grease and oil. Clean, or replace if necessary.
CAUTION
Do not coat anode with oil, grease or paint, or the
anti-corrosion function does not work normally.

When it is necessary to disassemble outboard
motor for inspection of anode, refer to
disassembly described in this manual.
21) Inspection of Propeller
1.
Check propeller blades and shear pin for cracks, damages,
wear and corrosion. Replace if necessary.
20) Replacement of Anode
Anode protects outboard motor from galvanic corrosion
(corrosion of metal due to very weak electric current).
The anode is attached to gear case.
Replace anode if volume is reduced to 2/3 of new part.
Do not coat anode with oil or paint.
