6.10 V-Belt Tensioning Procedure
Set the deflection distance on the lower scale of the tension gauge so that the underside of
the O-ring equals the 'h' value given in Figure 23.
Ensure that the deflection force scale is zeroed by pushing the upper O-ring all the way
down.
Place the tension gauge in the centre of the belt span as shown in Figure 23.
Press downwards on the rubber buffer, deflecting the belt until the underside of the lower
O-ring is level with the belt behind. (If there is only one belt, use a straight edge.)
Take the reading from the deflection scale of the tension meter (read at the lower edge of
the O-ring) and compare with the value given in Table 7.
Adjust the belt tension as required, to achieve the correct tension. (Refer to Section 6.9
"
Adjust Rotor Drive Belt Tension" on page 43.)
