Maintenance

§

Keep the Series 900 KA Shaft clean and dry.

§

Make sure that there are no scratches or burrs on the shaft body.

To Remove the Internal Bladder Assembly from the Shaft:

1.  Release all air from shaft and disconnect air supply.

2.  Remove the bolts from the valve journal.

3.  Remove the valve from the air valve end of the shaft.

Note:  Mark journal and shaft for alignment during reassembly.

4.  Alternately tighten the bolts into the jacking threads.

5.  Valve journal will slide out as the bolts are tightened.

6.  Remove journal.

Note:  Due to the retraction of the internal leaves, the external leaf may need to be held

in the expanded position for ease of removal of the internal bladder.

a.   Remove a few button head cap screws from the external leaves.
b.  Form a bridge across the leaf to allow tightening of the bolt to lift the leaf enough to allow

clearance.

c.  Make sure that the shaft surface is not scratched or damaged.
d.  This may need to be completed in several places.

7.  Disconnect the bladder assembly from the valve journal.

8.  Pull the bladder assembly out of the shaft.

Note:  Inspect the inside of the shaft for debris. Blow out with clean, dry air if

necessary. Check for burred edges and remove if applicable.

To Replace the Internal Bladder:

1.  Remove the jam nuts, one per end.

2.  Remove the end caps, one per end.

3.  Pull the tube fittings out of the bladder. There is one valve fitting and one non-valve fitting.

4.  Cut the new bladder to length with the removed bladder as reference.

5.  Insert the tube fittings into the bladder ends until the bladder is just over the tube fitting

threads.

6.  Add the end caps to both ends.

7.  Secure the end caps with the jam nuts.
