USING THE MINI DV AS A WEBCAM
Connect the unit to the PC
The device is plug and play so you need no driver software for Win-
dows XP and above. The PC will detect and install the software.
Follow the prompts and allow the software to install.
Windows 7 and above:
you need to be registered as the adminis-
trator to install the software. When the software has installed you
may see this security message:
Click “Install” and after installation re-boot the PC..
Whenever the camera is connected to the PC the SD drive con-

tents will deploy. For use as a webcam, simply close the win-
dow.
Sometimes the camera may not be detected. If this occurs re-

move and re-insert the USB cable. If this does not work, remove
the USB cable and re-boot the PC. The drive should then be de-
tected.
You will need to install a suitable video capture program from the
web. There are several free programs that provide excellent results.
One such program is MyCam. This is a free download from CNET:

Download the file and unzip the file to a folder. The program is de-
ployed from the folder by clicking on “MyCam.exe”
Connect the DV cam to the PC. The removable disk will appear

under your removable storage drive.
Press the power button on the DV camera once and the icon

will disappear. A USB icon may appear or it may not depending
on your operating system.
Deploy the program and wait a few seconds for the program to

recognise the camera.
