Troubleshooting

Error Messages

Thermo Scientific

DXRxi User Guide

Instrument off or disconnected

The instrument is powered off or a cable is disconnected. Check the following:

• Both instrument USB cables are securely connected to the instrument and to USB 2.0 

connectors on the system computer

• Instrument power supply is connected to a power source and powered on

• Instrument power strip is connected to a working outlet that meets the instrument’s 

electrical specifications and the strip is powered on (Refer to the instrument site and 
safety information guide for electrical specifications.)

• Power LED on the instrument front panel is lit (hold down 3 seconds to power up)

If this message appears and the instrument is powered on and the USB cables are connected to 
the computer, cycle the power on the computer and the instrument (turn the power switch on 
the power strip off and back on and then hold down the instrument power button for 
3 seconds) and then restart the OMNICxi software. If that doesn’t fix the problem, 

contact 

technical support

Video camera disconnected

A video camera cable is disconnected. Check the following:

• Video camera USB cable is securely fastened to the instrument

• Both instrument USB cables are connected to the instrument and to USB 2.0 connectors 

on the system computer

If the cables are connected and this message still appears, disconnect the video USB cable, 
wait 5 seconds and then reconnect it to restart the video camera. If this doesn’t fix the 
problem, 

contact technical support

Stage controller off or disconnected

The stage controller is powered off or the cable is disconnected. Check the following:

• USB cable for the stage controller is securely connected to the computer

• Stage controller is plugged into the instrument power strip

• Stage controller is powered on

If the stage controller is powered on and connected to the computer and this message still 
appears, 

contact technical support
