2. Open the front doors of the detector.
3. Using the 1/8 in. ball-end hex screwdriver (supplied), unscrew the captive retaining screw
on the lamp cover (see Figure 28 ).

4. Pull the cover off to expose the lamp assemblies.
5. To read the chronometer, check the position of the electrolyte gap in the mercury tube
against the graduated background (see Figure 29 and Figure 30 ).

CAUTION Because the lamps run hot, turn off the power and allow sufficient time
(approximately 30 minutes) for the lamps to cool before you remove the lamp cover.

Figure 29 , Figure 31 , Figure 33 , and Figure 35 show the latest version of the
deuterium lamp.
